Equine Rescue Services recently supported the charity Help for Heroes by offering free roadside assistance to all participants travelling to and from the Horses4Heroes sponsored ride at Windsor Great Park and Ascot Racecourse on 10th July.

One rider who was really glad of our support was Katie, who told us about her experiences:

"I was given the details of the free cover you offered for the Horses4Heroes ride when I registered for the event, and had your emergency number in hand in case of a problem. I am 5 months pregnant and this was my last ride before I "retire" to await the birth of my baby. This was an event close to my heart, my best friend's husband is in the army and has been to Afghanistan, and I didn’t want to miss it.

"My horse, who is an ex-racehorse and a Cheltenham Winner, behaved impeccably - it must have been like old times for him when we rode past the winning post at Ascot, as there was quite a crowd there who were very encouraging. I had a really amazing time and raised nearly £500 for this very worthy charity, and was on a complete high on the way home.

"Halfway there, while on the M3, I had a front tyre blow out, which was my nightmare scenario, but the Motorway Services quickly turned up before I had the opportunity to call you and they called your emergency number for me. Colin from Equine Rescue Services called me at regular intervals, updating me with the timings and letting me know exactly what was happening, he was really lovely and I didn’t have to worry about a thing.

"The Horses4Heroes Ride was a wonderful experience that could have been ruined without the aid of your assistance, you certainly saved the day for me. Thank you ERS, I am very grateful for your fantastic service."
