ERS launches new European Breakdown Assistance service

European Union flagAn increasing number of people are travelling to compete at European equestrian events every year. Preparing for the risk of horsebox or horse trailer breakdown or tyre failure, in countries where the language barrier can be a challenge, is essential.

Equine Rescue Services are therefore delighted to announce that we have teamed up with FMG Support to provide mechanical breakdown assistance in mainland Europe. Through their network of independent suppliers, FMG Support have been providing breakdown assistance in Europe for many years, and their client list boasts a number of blue chip companies.

Call our dedicated UK-based incident room for horsebox breakdown assistance in EuropeOur European breakdown assistance service can be accessed via our own dedicated control centre, based here in the UK, where you will be speaking to someone who speaks English and who understands your situation. Incident managers from our dedicated team and from FMG will arrange for any roadside assistance, recovery or workshop repairs which you might need, ensuring that you get the best possible service. All costs incurred will be charged to your account and can be settled when you get home, in your own currency.

Our European Assistance service is intended to provide you with mechanical breakdown and tyre assistance. Although we have a UK-wide network of professional equine transporters who provide us with our first-class horse recovery service, at the moment there is no such network available in Europe, so regretfully we cannot offer onward horse transportation within Europe. However, many of our UK horse transport providers hold professional international licences, allowing them to recover horses from the continent safely and legally. In the rare event that your horsebox or horse trailer could not be fixed, we could therefore arrange repatriation for you and your horses if required. As with mechanical costs, transport costs would be charged to your account and settled when you returned.

You can add European Assistance to your breakdown membership when you join ERS, or at any time afterwards, for an administrative fee of £35.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to take out Equine Rescue Services membership, you can purchase European Assistance on its own for an administrative fee of £65.
